Chocobos and Controllers

Last night, I was sitting on my couch playing Chocobo Racing for the first time. It is an original Playstation game, but I was playing it on the Playstation 2 (Not like that really makes a difference regardless). For those of you who don't know, Chocobos are basically a character in the Final Fantasy games. They have been in almost every single game one way or another, so I consider them a character. Anyway! The controller I was using to play the game is broken on one side. On each side of a PS2 controller, there's some kind of mechanism that lets either side vibrate on command from the game. Well, on the left side of my controller, the mechanism is out of place so it doesn't vibrate, but it clicks. All you hear is a little click and you can feel something hitting the case of the controller. When you're in the middle of a race and you bump into a wall and you feel that, it kind of throws your off track. Broken electronics really drive me crazy sometimes. Sometimes they're only bothersome, but other times they're just plain annoying and frustrating. But Chocobo Racing is actually a really fun game once you get the hang of it.

Speaking of Chocobos and Final Fantasy...
Another game that I recommend to well...really anyone who likes to play video games, is Final Fantasy Dissidia. I've never played a Final Fantasy game before that one and it got me hooked on the entire series. It's a great fighting game and it has a great story line. I'm about 70 hours into it and I still haven't run out of things to do. If it isn't already, it should definitely be on your list of "I have to play this!" games.

That's all from me for now. Until next time...
Play on!

  1. As far as Dissidia goes, I own the game and quite enjoy it. My maxed Squall powns anything.

One thing that I really like is the weapon/armor system, and how only by making more items, do you get the best items.

It does lead to some amount of grinding, but what it does really well is add replayability to a deep fighting game, something that Street Fighter or Soul Caliber are lacking.

  2. My max Terra could kick your Squall's butt! :o I'm just kidding. :3

I love the weapon/armor system as well, whoever thought of that should be getting a whole bunch of praise from the company. :P

And the grinding isn't all that bad. I've seen great games have horrible grind that made me want to rip my hair out...but Dissidia isn't bad. :3

  3. Terra was one of my favourites, but she just has trouble with staying at the right distance. I like Squall cause it's a fast rush, and then unlimited combos.

I run him on a Ex build, where I have gotten Ex mode as early as 10 seconds, and never lose it. It's far from perfect though.

Do you play the Kingdom Hearts games? I was pretty excited at the look of Birth by Sleep for the PSP.

  4. That's an epic build! :o

I actually don't play the Kingdom Hearts games, but everyone I know that has played them is telling me that I should because I'll apparently love it. In your opinion, are they good? I might go out and find a copy of the first one to play.

  5. They are really good, although FF was just thrown in as fan service to sell a disney rpg ;). But it works really well.

It has a great action battlesystem, probably my favourite all action battle system ever. The storyline is a bit wacky, but it's disney meets FF you know...

I would definitely advise picking up the first one, especially as you can get it really cheap.

And also just because it's disney they don't really slack on the difficulty either. there are I think 4 hidden boss's in the first one, one being Sephiroth himself, who you can only unlock by beating a fifty round hades cup without dying once.

They only improved it in KH2, and like I said earlier, they are coming out with Birth by sleep on the psp (already out in Japan). so go for it.
